CONTRAST
772 patients, ± 28 sites, ongoing until 2010
The Dutch Convective Transport Study (CONTRAST) provides conclusive evidence whether online hemodiafiltration (HDF on-line) leads to a lower mortality and less cardiovascular events as compared to standard low fluxhemodialysis (HD). The primary endpoint is all cause mortality. Secondary endpoints are fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events.
This randomised double blind multicenter trial (phase III) of 6.5 years, currently includes 772 chronic hemodialysis patients (patients will be included until 31-12-09), randomised between online HDF and standard HD.
Project management, data management and monitoring is performed by the Julius Center. The Julius assistance includes organisation of the investigator meetings, updating the members of the executive committee with site information, organization of an extra instruction visit at the site and intensive contact with the study staff. Furthermore, the Julius Center gives input for the Newsletters and take care of the distribution.
