Mira G.P. Zuidgeest is assistant professor at the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU) and associate director innovation at Julius Clinical, the Netherlands.
Trained both as a pharmacist and epidemiologist and with a PhD in pharmacoepidemiology, Mira’s current work focuses on clinical trial innovation, both methodological (pragmatic/Real World Evidence trials) and operational (Remote Decentralised Clinical Trial approaches). Mira has previously worked in healthcare, in hospital pharmacy, and has a special interest in in paediatric asthma, which led her to do a post-doc in Brazil.
Currently Mira is core team member and scientific taskforce lead in the ongoing IMI GetReal Initiative, in which she focusses at how to translate the concept of pragmatic trials to a methodologically sound and operationally feasible trial and has co-developed a decision support tool (www.pragmagic.eu) for this purpose. She is also overall coordinator and WP3 lead for the recently started IMI Trials@Home project, which aims to reshape clinical trial design, conduct and operations, by developing and piloting standards, recommendations and tools for the definition and operationalisation of remote decentralised clinical trials in Europe.
