Tsong Fang
Data Scientist

Tsong Fang earned his PhD (2018) in Medical Science from Uppsala University, specializing in neuroscience, medical imaging, and quantitative image analysis. With a BSc (2010) and MSc (2012) in Medical Biology, his nine-year journey encompassed basic research, drug development, and data science. As a dedicated PhD student at Uppsala University from 2013 to 2018, Tsong delved into the intricacies of developing a new treatment and imaging method for Alzheimer’s disease. Following this work, he further honed his expertise as a postdoctoral scholar at Yale University from 2018 to 2022, contributing to cutting-edge research in AI applications in medical imaging. Tsong’s transition to industry saw him take on the role of Clinical Data Scientist at an AI startup specializing in Software as Medical Devices (SaMD) from 2022 to 2023, where he was responsible for the clinical documentation submitted to the EMA and FDA to approve algorithms predicting breast cancer.

Throughout his career, Tsong has been at the forefront of innovation, embracing challenges and navigating the evolving landscape of medical research. His early career involved hands-on work in bench and wet lab environments, progressively transitioning into computational and data science roles during his PhD, postdoc, and industry engagements. Additionally, he is passionate about data science, machine learning, and the impactful use of technology in healthcare. His interests extend beyond the professional realm, encompassing culinary pursuits such as cooking and baking.

Currently, he serves as a Data Scientist at Julius Clinical, where he is dedicated to leveraging advanced data science techniques to enhance research capabilities. His work involves handling the scale and complexity of data inherent in clinical research, contributing to cutting-edge innovation in the field.
