Executing a Complex Phase III Diabetes Cardiovascular Outcomes Trial in a High-Risk Population
Cardiovascular outcomes trials (CVOTs) in type 2 diabetes present a unique combination of clinical, operational, and regulatory complexity, particularly in patients with recent acute coronary syndrome (ACS) events. This case study highlights how a global, integrated delivery model supported the execution of a Phase III diabetes CVOT across 26 countries and more than 700 sites. Leveraging deep cardiometabolic expertise, accelerated startup strategies, targeted recruitment, and rigorous global oversight, the program enabled rapid activation, sustained enrollment, and high-quality, adjudicated data generation.
